Lithuanian World Center, Blessed Jurgis Matulaitis Mission, and Lithuanian American Community Lemont Chapter 35th Anniversary Commemoration of the Day of the Defenders of Freedom

In 2026, we will mark the 35th anniversary of the tragic events of January 13th. As they protected state buildings, people in Lithuania would bring hot tea and food from home to stay warm and share with one another. We warmly invite you to symbolically bring a dish to share so that before the film screening we can all enjoy some refreshments together. Tea and coffee will be provided by the organizers.

Event program:

• 10:40 a.m. Laying of flowers at the “Mother of the Partisan” monument
• 11:00 a.m. Holy Mass in memory of the Defenders of Freedom at the PJM Mission
• 12:00 p.m. Screening of the documentary “Across the Oceans” in the Banis Family Hall
• 2:00 p.m. Potluck refreshments

The event is free of charge. The film will be shown with English subtitles.

2026 metais sukanka 35 metai nuo tragiškų sausio 13-osios įvykių.

Saugant valstybinius objektus, Lietuvos žmonės, kad nesušaltų iš namų atsinešdavo karštos arbatos bei maisto ir dalindavosi vienas su kitu. Labai kviečiame simboliškai į renginį atsinešti vaišių, kad vėliau, prieš filmo peržiūrą, galėtume visi kartu pasivaišinti. Arbata ir kava pasirūpins organizatoriai.

Renginio programa:

• 10:40 v.r. Gėlių padėjimas prie paminklo Partizano motinai.
• 11:00 v.r. Šv. Mišios Laisvės gynėjams atminti PJM misijoje.
• 12:00 val. “Abipus vandenynų” Dokumentinio filmo peržiūra Banio šeimos salėje
• 2:00 v.p.p. Suneštinės vaišės

Renginys nemokamas. Filmas bus rodomas su anglų kalbos subtitrais.
