Club Alatėja began its work in 2005, when its members sent care packages to a family in Lithuania that had lost its home in a fire. A year later, the women of Alatėja became acquainted with Rugutė, a Lithuanian charitable foundation supporting children with cancer. Over time, the club expanded its efforts to help children living in orphanages, families facing financial hardship, special education schools, children’s day centers, and many seriously ill children and their families.
The club also supports Lithuanians living in the Chicago area who are facing tragedy, including the loss of a family member. It would be difficult to list everyone who has received assistance through funds raised by club members or donated by generous supporters. Countless care packages have been sent to Lithuania to help the sick, orphans, and people living alone. Club members have devoted countless hours to organizing events, holding annual garage sales, and raising funds for those in need. Just as difficult to count are the many people who have contributed to the club’s work over the years.
The club takes its name and symbol from a goddess representing kindness and sincerity. At times, it seems as though this goddess watches over the members of Alatėja and their friends, inspiring them to continue their good work. With 12 families at its heart and several hundred like-minded supporters, the club demonstrates what can be accomplished when people unite around a common purpose: sharing what they have, lending a helping hand, overcoming challenges, and standing together.
For 21 years, the members of Alatėja have shared kindness, smiles, and support with those who need it most. Join them for an evening of generosity, friendship, and togetherness. Come support a worthy cause and enjoy the warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes Alatėja’s gatherings so special!

Labdaros klubas „Alatėja” savo veiklą pradėjo 2005 metais, kuomet buvo išsiųsti siuntiniai Lietuvoje gyvenančiai nuo gaisro nukentėjusiai šeimai. Dar po metų klubo moterys susipažino su „Rugute“ – labdaros fondu Lietuvoje, globojančiu onkologinėmis ligomis sergančius vaikus. Tuomet „Alatėjos“ draugais tapo vaikučiai, gyvenantys vaikų globos namuose, sunkiau besiverčiančios šeimos, specializuotos mokyklos, vaikų dienos centrai, daug mažų ligoniukų ir jų šeimų.
Ištikus nelaimei, netekus šeimos nario, remiami ir čia gyvenantys lietuviai. Užtruktų laiko išvardinti visus, kam buvo skirtos pačių klubo narių uždirbtos ar geradarių paaukotos lėšos, kiek siuntinių išsiųsta į Lietuvą ligoniams, našlaičiams, vienišiems, kiek laiko skirta planuojant, ruošiant renginius, darant kasmetinius garažinius išpardavimus. Taip pat būtų sunku suskaičiuoti, kiek žmonių prisidėjo ir prisideda prie šio klubo darbų.
Klubo vardas ir simbolis – gerumo ir nuoširdumo deivė. Kartais atrodo, kad ši deivė sklando tarp „Alatėjos“ narių ir jų draugų, skatindama nesustoti ir toliau tęsti savo darbus. 12 šeimų ir dar keli šimtai bendraminčių – kai visi mato bendrą tikslą, tuomet galima dalintis, pagalbos ranką ištiesti, kalnus nuversti, būti kartu.
Jau 21 metus „Alatėjos” klubas kartu dalijasi gerumu, šypsenomis ir pagalba tiems, kam jos labiausiai reikia. Ateikite, paremkite, pabūkime drauge – pas juos visada jauku, šilta ir smagu!
