The words of Paulius Širvys remain as vital today as when they were written. More than ever, they carry the power to speak in the language of freedom.

This special evening invites you into 105 minutes of music and poetry—songs newly created, melodies long sung, and verses deeply rooted in memory like Širvys’ eternal themes: love, homeland, and war.

The program spans a wide range—from the repertoire of Lithuanian Song Festivals to beloved table songs and melodies that have entered the realm of folk tradition.

Bring your favorite Paulius Širvys poem—we will let the birch leaves rustle, and we will sing together. For words cannot be taken from a song, just as love cannot be taken from the heart—a love that binds us in longing for our homeland, even in the darkest hour.

While some portions of this event will be held in the Lithuanian language, most of the experience is meant to be accessible and engaging for non-speakers as well. All are welcome!
